Robert IV married Isabella, the second daughter of David of Scotland, 8th Earl of Huntingdon. They were married about 1219 and had two sons and a daughter: * Robert V de Brus * Bernard de Brus * Unknown daughter His wife's maritagium included the manors of Writtle and Hatfield Broadoak, Essex. Robert died between 1226 and 1233, and was buried in Gisborough Priory. Other sources state he was buried at Sawtry with his wife. Her above mentioned son Robert Bruce, 5th Lord of Annandale was regent and recognized heir presumptive of Scotland in the years just before her death.
