He married CATHERINE MONTGOMERY 1705 in Ireland, daughter of HUGH MONTGOMERY and JANE HAMILTON. **** Born in Scotland (or possibly Ireland) Alexander emigrated to Londonderry, North Ireland in ca 1700 and married in 1705 to Catherine Montgomery b 1684 near Convoy House, County Donegal, Ireland d 2/1/1760, near Long Canes Creek, Abbeville, Abbeville Co, South Carolina, daughter of Captain Hugh Montgomery and Jane Hamilton. ***** Following the death of Alexander Catherine remarried in 1713, County Donegal, Ireland to James Patrick Calhoun (1688 Crosh House, Newtown-Stewart, County Tyrone, Ireland- 1741 Chestnut Level, Lancaster Co. PA.), son of Rev. Alexander Calhoun and Lady Judith Hamilton. Died (Around 37 years old) at Ierland [Ierland] in 1712. marries (resp. around 30 and around 22 years old) in 1705 with Catherine Montgomery , daughter of Hugh Jr Montgomery and Jane Janette Patrick Edgar, born at Noord Ierland [Noord Ierland] on 7 Januari 1683, Find a Grave - Memorial Text, IMPORTANT: see also FAG Memorial# 17233694 - a "cenotaph" stone marks the location where Catherine and 22 others were "murdered by Indians". Whereas, this memorial is believed to be the physical location of her burial (albeit that no headstone has survived). The "marker" (photo, at right) is the "cenotaph" mentioned above, as was added by a photo-volunteer. It is NOT located inside the boundary of the "Calhoun Cemetery", but in the "wilds", at the site where those deaths occurred (refer to the caption added by the photographer). --- b.~1693, Londonderry, Ulster, Ireland. d. ???? (after 1756, see below), SC, USA. --- Wife of James Patrick Calhoun. --- "In 1756 James, Ezekiel, William and Patrick Calhoun and their sister, Mrs. Mary Noble, widow of John Noble, and their mother, Mrs. Catherine Calhoun, removed to South Carolina, arriving, according to a letter written by John C Calhoun, (a son of Patrick, AKA James Patrick), in February. They settled on Long Cane Creek, Prince William's Parish, Granville." --- HISTORICAL NOTE: Prince William Parish (near Sheldon, Beaufort, SC) was created in 1745 from the northwest side of St. Helena's Parish, part of Granville (1708-1768) County. Calhoun, Esq, In Memory of Mrs. Catherine Calhoun Aged 76 years Who With 22 Others Was Here Murdered By The Indians The First of Feb. 1760. Opschrift "Pat K. Calhoun, Esq, In Memory of Mrs. Catherine Calhoun Aged 76 years Who With 22 Others Was Here Murdered By The Indians The First of Feb. 1760."
