Brother of Amaury IV and Agnes, the wife of Waleran de Beaumont, 1st Earl of Worcester. He was born about 1121, at Montfort-Sur-Risle, Eure, France.
Simon married an Amicia and a Matilda about 1140 and had three children:
* Bertrade, wife of Sir Hugh of Kevelioc, Earl of Chester
* Simon IV, married Amicia de Beaumont
* Amaury V de Montfort, married Mabel FitzWilliam, Countess of Gloucester
