son of Richard Skinner and Sarah Creecey, born at Perquimans County [North Carolina, United States] between 1728 and 1730 [Mentioned dates in various sources: 25 dec 1728/1729, 25 feb 1728/1729/1730], Memory Text at Find a Grave, Among prominent sons of Perquimans mention must be made of General William Skinner who saved the day at Great Bridge when the Continental troops were so hard pressed by the British. This splendid man served his county as faithfully in peace as he did in war and lies buried on a farm not far from Hertford. This is not the same person as this William Skinner, From various sources children are said to be from a William Skinner. If all of that would be true, these two Williams would be the same. I think the lineage I present is the correct one. Died (At most 69 years old) at Perquimans County [North Carolina, United States] on 26 Januari 1798, buried at Perquimans County [North Carolina, United States] [General William Skinner Family Cemetery], marries (2) with Dorothy Black. From this marriage 2 children. From this marriage 5 children:
